Most of the fish we eat die of starvation. But there is a better way, for both fish and the predator.
A few species of fish are sometimes killed kindly, most of them end up on American plates are pulled into the water and thrown into the ice, or left to breathe in the air.

The process of iki jime can be done using a sharp knife, a sharp screwdriver, or using specially designed iki jime tools available at all good handling stores.
TIP 3 – TECHNOLOGY
Knocking fish on the head with one or more blows is an easy way to kill someone. The process of iki jime requires more specificity, but it results in much lower levels of stress in fish and improves food quality.
Method: As a rule of thumb, for later (trevally, etc.) fish lying naturally on their sides, use a lateral (side) view. For round fish or torpedo and flatfish, use a dorsal look.
Quickly and firmly place the scanner in the indicated areas, then move the tool around to destroy the brain. Properly covered, it will resist a great deal of unfortunate conditions.
TIP 4- HEATING
If your fish is properly killed by knocking on the head or in the gym, increase the amount of healthy food for your fishing by placing it on ice or better in an ice slurry (at least two parts ice in one half of the water).
Putting fish in an ice slurry without surprising or killing it first is not stressful for many species, especially small fish from warm water. However, this method may not work or be suitable for large fish or cold variables (e.g. trout).
OTHER WAYS Of Learning How To Kill A Fish
Bleeding your fish immediately after a surprise or iki jime will improve the quality of the meat and maintain health, especially if the fish bleeds and is immediately added to the ice slurry.
In some fish species (e.g. white) abortion or neck fracture can lead to immediate death (hence minor stress), but in some fish species death may not occur immediately using this method.
To Kill A Fish:
1. Rapid blow to the head
Perhaps one of the oldest and easiest ways to do this, a solid head on a head will quickly kill a fish. As it kills quickly, the fish does not suffer for several minutes on the beach before dying, as are other methods. The procedure is painless, and clean with an angler.

To do this, place your hand under the fish and insert your index finger into one gill, with your middle finger. Then, using the palm of your hand and the base of your thumb to relax, pull the fish’s head up and back until it breaks its neck.
This may sound a little scary the first time you do it, because you are too attached to the fish when it dies. However, a quick kill has a small area of error if you go back forcefully and smoothly.

3. Divide the spine
While the previous two methods do not require much other than what you will experience in nature, this method requires a knife.
That said, this is my favorite way of small to medium-sized fish, I think I have a knife available. It is especially good for small fish like pinfish, as some methods can be difficult or impossible with such species.
Several pinfish live on a cutting board next to a rope knife. This is very simple. Just place the fish on its side in a tight place, and then use the end of your knife to cut the spinal cord behind the eyes until you reach the solid area below.
It may be a little confusing, but it is very fast and effective. It’s the same again. By way of a “bonk in the head”, you may be aiming incorrectly and missing out on a fun place, which led to a second attempt.
